Next time, just knock

10:06 a.m. — 10 Block of North Yonge Street. Criminal Mischief. Police responded to a vandalism call and, when they arrived, the victim said the suspect had been striking his front door window with a large object. The suspect continued striking the window until the frame broke and the window fell from the door, causing $400 in damage. When asked why he broke the window, the suspect said simply, “I’m looking for Tony.”

The suspect was located on North Washington Street and was charged with criminal mischief.

Gas station go-go

2:19 p.m. — 1100 Block of West Granada Boulevard. Stolen Vehicle. The victim said she was out of her vehicle about to pump gas when a male jumped into her vehicle and sped away onto West Granada Boulevard, and then turned south onto Clyde Morris Boulevard, nearly hitting other cars in the street.

A second car left the parking lot at the same time, at a high rate of speed onto Clyde Morris. That victim’s purse was in the vehicle. She had turned the engine off but left the keys in the vehicle while pumping gas, she said, and did not see the suspect until he started the vehicle and drove off.

No dogs allowed

9:19 p.m. — 90 Block of Central Avenue. Armed Robbery. The victim said he was robbed by two males after he and a friend heard a soft knock on the door, opened it and was greeted by two males who came in demanded money.

He said the suspect was carrying a black shotgun, although the officer noted that the victim also said the suspect never took the gun from his pants, so the officer wondered how the victim knew its color. The victim’s friend said she told the suspects to leave or she would call the cops. After the suspect raised his shirt to reveal the gun, the victim gave him $690.

A police officer arrived with a dog, but the victim refused to let the dog in his room. The officer then noticed a very strong scent of marijuana and asked if there was more information he was withholding. The victim became offended and would not cooperate any further.

Grandma's sweet, little thief

11:33 p.m. — 150 Block of Northside Drive. Fraud. The victim received a notice on her cell phone that her credit card had been used at a department store for $1,581.60. She did not recognize the purchase and, upon checking her purse, noticed that her credit card was missing.

Another officer located an employee of the department store who said a suspect tried to purchase 15 gift cards that were for $105.44 each ($1581.60 total.) The employee said she knew the suspect and asked him why he was purchasing gift cards and he said, “to return them for cash.” The victim said that the suspect was her grandson and he has visited her home the last two days.

The officer asked the victim to put a hold on her credit card. The location of the suspect is unknown.
