The grass isn't always greener

10:56 a.m. — 50 Block of Windrift Court. Vandalism. The victim said her neighbor offered to assist her with her lawn without payment, but later, he told her to talk to his wife about starting to pony up for the service. Shortly after she explained that she did not want to employ him, her grapefruit tree and an area of her lawn died.

A friend told her it looked like it was caused by chemicals. The lawn started to recover and then stripes and a large patch of dead grass developed. The hibiscus bush also died. She said she believes the neighbor caused it but could not provide his exact address.

A check in hand is better than two on Craigslist

1:56 p.m. — 200 Block of Grove Street. Fraud. The victim said she found a job on craigslist.com that required her to drive around the mother an engineer working in Texas, but first the car had to be shipped from Texas. The suspect told her he would send her a check for $2,950 and her salary was $1,440. After receiving the check, she sent $1,500 by Western Union to the suspect’s agent, as directed, so the agent could ship the car.

The suspect then told her more money had to be sent to the agent, but that another check would be sent to reimburse her. The victim went online the next day and discovered her account was overdrawn $1,000. The victim called the suspect and he had such a strong accent she could barely understand him. When she asked where he worked, the phone went dead.

While the officer was interviewing the victim, she received a text message from the suspect, which said, “Hello.” The victim provided a copy of the emails as evidence. There are no suspects.
