Police: Lock up at the pump!

Citing several incidents where vehicles have either been stolen or burglarized while their owners were fueling up at local gas stations, police are asking residents to remove their keys and lock their doors as they fuel up.

Generally, the perpetrators are looking to remove purses, computers or any other valuables left in plain view. In some cases, the vehicle itself was stolen when the keys were accessible. In each of these incidents, the keys were either left in the vehicles or the vehicle was unlocked.

Call the Ormond Beach Police Department, at 677-0731, or Crime Stoppers, at 1-888-277-TIPS, with any information on these crimes.
