(The following is an adapetd press release from the Whittington & Associates public relations firm.)
Representatives with the Florida RV Trade Association’s regional chapter say the first annual St. Johns County Fall RV Show, which took place at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds, was a success – attracting more than 2,000 people to the venue over its four-day run.
“Everyone involved did their job and we had a great show,” said Dick Gore, president of Dick Gore’s RV World. “The fairgrounds turned out to be a great facility.”
RV dealers throughout the St. Augustine area, including Dick Gore’s St. Augustine location, Camping World of St. Augustine and Ocean Grove RV Supercenter, had been pushing for a second show in northeast Florida for a number of years. (The larger, Jacksonville RV Show is held every February.)
Palm Coast residents Dan Savoie and Lynn Perry were at the event on the first day, looking over the variety of recreational vehicles on display.
“What brought us out is all the variety of RVs and all the different dealers we could talk to,” Savoie said. “We don’t have an RV now, but this gives us an opportunity to look around and get an idea of what we want.”
Tom Ckee and his wife Lisa, who live in Lynn, Massachusetts and have a home in Palm Coast, said they also attended the show to get ideas on which type of RV they will buy later.
“We’re retiring in a year of two and we’re going to be buying a motor home,” Ckee said. “This certainly beats traveling all over the place to see everything. It’s nice to have all the different RV types, from all the manufacturers, in one place.”
There were about $20 million in new recreational vehicles on display from Thursday through Sunday at the fairgrounds, including 200 new motor homes, travel trailers, fifth-wheels and tent campers.
Participating dealers included Camping World RV Sales of Jacksonville, Camping World RV Sales of St. Augustine, Dick Gore’s RV World of Jacksonville, Ocean Grove RV Supercenter of St. Augustine, Rivers RV Sales of Jacksonville and General RV Center of Orange Park. All of the dealers serve the northeast Florida market.
The same dealers will take part in the Jacksonville RV Show, scheduled for Feb. 13 – 16 at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center.
