Four runners finished in the top 10 — and three finished fourth, fifth and sixth — as the Matanzas boys cross-country team paced itself to the District 5-3A championship on Saturday, scoring 60 team points and edging second-place Gainesville (77 points).
Drake Goodman led the way, finishing fourth overall in 17 minutes, 3 seconds. The rest of the team finished as follows: Anthony Colasanti (fifth, 17:08), Liam Conville (sixth, 17:16), David Perez (10th, 17:30), Jon Guilbe (35th, 18:54), Nathan Hutches (37th, 18:59) and River Marti (41st, 19:08).
The boys team will advance to the regional meet.
The girls team finished sixth and will not advance.
Payton Tucker led the way for the Lady Pirates, finishing 21st overall in 21:52. The rest of the team finished as follows: Morayna Thorpe (24th, 22:05), Chase Kroul (25th, 22:16), Brianna Evans (27th, 22:18), Kristie Albano (31st, 22:46), Isabella Rodriguez (44th, 24:45) and Shannon Hutches (47th, 25:07).
