A total of 224 pounds of prescription drugs and other over-the-county medications were collected on Saturday during a four-event drug take-back event, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office announced on Monday.
The seventh-annual National Drug Take Back Initiative was a cooperative effort by the Sheriff’s Office, the Flagler Beach Police Department, the Bunnell Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Unwanted drugs and medications were collected at six locations throughout Flagler County.
The program is completely anonymous and free of charge. Citizens who had unwanted prescription medications could drive up and drop them off at any of the sites. A law enforcement officer from one of the three agencies participating in the event staffed each of the sites.
Upon conclusion of the event, they met with DEA officials, who took possession of the drugs that were collected.
