Seabreeze and Father Lopez compete in cross-country meets. Also: Ormond Beach PRIDE off to a roaring start, and Father Lopez golf tops Mount Dora.

Seabreeze runners cruise, take first place
With four runners finished in the top 10, the Seabreeze girls cross-country team cruised to a first-place finish Aug. 31, at the DeLand meet, held at the Sperling Sports Complex.
The girls team finished with 42 team points (the lower, the better). Lake Brantley finished second with 124 points, and Orange City University finished third with 133.
Kianna Bonnet, a sophomore running in her first meet, finished second overall, in 20:04, just one second behind the race winner. Elizabeth Murray (5th, 20:31), Alyssa Bayliff (6th, 21:07), Josie Gray (10th, 21:24) and freshman Lea Gray (19th, 22:13) rounded out the team of five
Father Lopez runners place 4th, 8th at meet
The Father Lopez cross-country teams finished fourth (girls) and eighth (boys) last week at the Katie Caples Invitational, in Jacksonville.
Paige Ward finished 18th overall, in 22 minutes, 22 seconds. Other girl finishers are as follows: Brandy Lynch (19th, 22:26), Valerie Villafane (20th, 22:28), Adrienne Yargan (28th, 23:11), Annie Morejon (50th, 24:28), Lauren Fox (51st, 24:31) and Megan Wilson (58th, 24:45).
Ward was Father Lopez’s top runner for the second straight meet, and the Lopez girls team are currently ranked in the Top 10 in Florida.
Of the boys team, Kevin Schieber finished first, coming in at 29th overall, in 19:12. Other finishers are as follows: Adam Farmer (32nd, 19:24), Nick Theriault (35th, 19:29), Matthew Roof (69th, 20:30), Chase Massi (73rd, 20:32), Andy Ufheil (86th, 20:50) and Patrick Bowler (139th, 22:48).
Father Lopez golfers top Mount Dora
Father Lopez golfers topped Mount Dora Bible in 192-198 nail-biter, at the Daytona Beach Golf Club.
The course was a par 36.
Lopez: Albrecht 36, Lecras 49, Ferguson 52, Higgs 55
Mount Dora: J. Rickerson 37, Holbrook 53, Foster 53, C. Rickerson 55
Highlights: Emma Albrecht sank a six-foot par putt on the last hole to take medalist honors.
PRIDE Pee Wee team remains undefeated
The Ormond Beach PRIDE Pee Wee football team shutout Ocala, 34-0, Saturday. The team has started the season 2-0 and not allowed a point.
Jacorey Stokes scored five touchdowns. B.J. Lord and J.J. Kelly each caught a touchdown pass. Lord also added extra points.
Other top performers were Malik Brunson, Johana Reilly and Anderson Welch.
The Ormond Beach PRIDE JV team also topped Ocala, 49-0, Saturday.
The defense allowed just one first down and also scored 12 points off turnovers.
A fumble recovery in the end zone by Noah Rauseo, and a 30-yard interception returned for a touchdown by Darius Devine accounted for both defense touchdowns. The PRIDE offense generated five touchdowns behind solid blocking up front from the offensive line led by Bobby Bay, Bryce Marteeny, A.J. Leffler and Dylan Otte.
Hunter Goan had three first-half rushing touchdowns, and John Norman had a 25-yard rushing touchdown early in the third quarter.
Brendan Flanagan also added a touchdown catch.
