Seeing a photo of the small boat that washed ashore last week in the city, titled “Lost at sea,” in the Sept. 19 edition of the Ormond Beach Observer, inspired local photographer Doug Spence to share a shot he took a few years back, when an expensive sport fishing boat lost power and washed ashore in Ormond by the Sea.

To remove the boat from the surf, crews spent five days dismantling it and finally cleared it away in broken pieces.

Other sights that inspired locals include brightly colored butterfly wings, fiery sunsets and more.
