Bringing its thrift store total up to five throughout Volusia County, the Halifax Humane Society celebrated the opening of its newest consignment shop, Halifax Humane Society Treasures & Boutique, Thursday, Sept. 19, at 333 W. Granada Blvd.
“Our lease was expiring at the previous location,” said Tyler Stover, community outreach director, of the former shop, at 1027 Nova Road, in Holly Hill. "And we saw an opportunity to move to a location that is a better fit for our needs.”
The store held its soft opening about a month ago, Stover added. And so far, it’s off to a great start.
“We are aiming for $195,000 gross revenue this year,” he said. “We have actually been slightly ahead of that pace.”
The extra income will help the society offer additional discounted adoption weekends, as well as low-cost spay/neuter, emergency medical care and more.
Extra discounts were offered at the grand opening, as was a free Jimmy John’s lunch and a silent auction. The shop will carry high-end pet food available nowhere else in Ormond Beach, as well, Stover said, such as Blackwood Pet Food.
Halifax Humane Society has also shared cooperation ideas and traded products with Family Renew Community’s thrift shop, The Secret Attic, at 32 N. Ocean Shore Blvd.
The 76-year-old nonprofit provides service to nearly 25,000 animals annually.
