Bings Landing County Park has new facilities, including a new fishing pier, extra parking and free WiFi.
County officials and community members came together for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the park on Sept. 16.
“Bings Landing is an example of what is possible when we all work together to provide a top-notch facility for residents,” Flagler County Commission Chairman Nate McLaughlin said. “The improvements made to this park are really impressive.”
There is also a new picnic pavilion, three floating aluminum docks and new bathrooms, according to a Flagler County news release, and the boat basin at the park has been deepened and 2,800 yards of silt removed by dredging.
The changes were funded in part by grants from the Florida Inland Navigation District, which aims to expand public use of the Intracoastal Waterway.
Palm Coast Mayor Jon Netts, Flagler County’s representative for the Florida Inland Navigation District, presented McLaughlin with a $163,150 check for the projects.
Bings Landing, at 5862 N. Oceanshore Blvd., offers fishing and boating opportunities. The 8-acre park also houses the archeological excavation of Gen. Joseph Hernandez’s plantation home, destroyed in the Second Seminole War in 1836. Hernandez was Florida’s first representative to the U.S. Congress.
