The morning rain cleared away in time last weekend to provide a perfect setting for the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce's second-annual King of the Grill event.
It was a day full of eating and finger-licking, as crowds sampled grilled concoctions from five local restaurants and 15 amateur teams all competing for the barbecue gold. There was also music and games for kids, face-painting and a rock wall.
Winners were selected by Mayor Ed Kelley and Ormond Beach City Commissioners Troy Kent, Bill Partington, Rick Boehm and James Stowers. Attendees also voted for People’s Choice award in both categories.
In the professional set, Daytona Pig Stand came out on top, while the Ormond Brewing Company won top amateurs.
The People’s Choice winners were Lulu’s Oceanside Grill as the top professionals and Realty Pros as best amateurs.
All proceeds benefited year-round operation of the chamber.
