Matanzas Homecoming festivities marred by loss

The Matanzas Pirates were shut out by Titusville High School Friday night 42-0 in the school’s Homecoming football game, but one football player did have a victory during halftime when he was crowned Homecoming King.

Marcaus Cooper was joined by his queen, Toni Thompson. Cooper is also on the varsity soccer and track and field teams and is the senior class vice president. He hopes to attend Howard University. Thompson is a member of the track and field team and is in the Leo Club. She hopes to attend Florida State University.

Homecoming prince and princesses for each grade level were also crowned at halftime. They are as follows: freshman: Noah Hoffman and Yeiska Alvarado; sophomore: Matt Gutierrez and Skylar Sabine; junior: Troy Magnuson and Tsolote Holley.
