The Flagler Humane Society is conducting its Soles for Souls shoe collection drive April 1 through May 31 to raise funds for its animals while also benefiting microenterprise ventures in developing nations and keeping old shoes out of local landfills.
Individuals can help by donating at the Flagler Humane Society Shelter or at collection points located throughout Flagler County.
“The additional advantages of diverting shoes from the waste steam and creating commerce and sustaining peoples’ lives make this a win-win for everyone,” said Amy Carotenuto, FHS Executive Director. “Our goal is to collect 7,500 pairs of shoes and the only way we can do that is if people step up and help so I am calling on everyone in our community to gather up their unwanted, gently worn shoes and bring them to one of our drop off locations.”
A list of all drop off locations is available at flaglerhumanesociety.org/soles-souls-shoe-drive/.
