LeAnn Shaw used her experience with kids to take home a trophy from the Toastmasters Area 44 International Speech Contest March 15.

Using her own personal experiences, LeAnn Shaw from Ormond Beach won the Toastmasters Area 44 International Speech Contest.

In Shaw’s seven-minute-long speech titled “Kids These Days”, she shared stories of kids showing compassion and helping those less fortunate. Her speech was developed based on personal experiences and feedback from fellow club members.

She joined Toastmasters on the Halifax in February 2012 and said she found it beneficial to her speech and leadership skills.

Shaw will compete in the Toastmasters Division D contest April 27 at the Deltona Public Library.
