While working at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center’s cafeteria, executive chef Chris Ghalayini met Christal Chandler, a nurse on the hospital’s seventh floor, in September 2012. (Chandler has recently transferred to Florida Hospital Flagler to work in the emergency room.)

Chandler approached Ghalayini first and asked him out on a date. By the next November, the couple was engaged. The couple was married Saturday, March 22, on the beach at Hiles Boulevard, in New Smyrna Beach.

“My favorite thing about Christal is all of her,” Ghalayini said. “She is genuine, honest, caring, loving, exceptional mother - especially to my daughter. She is truly my life partner. Basically, I can sum it up like this. I never, never ever believed in marriage. But when I met Christal, everything changed. I actually fell in love and am still in love with her. There isn’t a moment that goes by that I don’t want to be with her. I can finally say I love someone, I want to love someone, and I want to be with one person for the rest of my life.”
