A 77-year-old bicyclist was left in critical condition after being struck at 7:20 a.m. April 29, on the corner of Whiteview Parkway and Ravenwood Drive.

Janet Shutte was riding west on the Whiteview bicycle path, when Kevin Murphy, 51, was driving his white Ford north on Ravenwood Drive. As Murphy began to pull into the intersection, he failed to observe Shutte in the crosswalk, according to the report released by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The front end of the Ford struck the left side of the bicyclist knocking her to the ground. The bicyclist was transported by air to Halifax Hospital in Daytona for her injuries.
