Flagler Beach pedestrian injured in A1A crash

A 37-year-old Flagler Beach resident was critically injured just before 1 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, in a crash on State Road A1A in Flagler County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol’s report, Brian Samuel Freeman, 30, of Ormond Beach, was riding a 1996 Honda Shadow motorcycle southbound on A1A. A pedestrian, Shane Kitchens, of Flagler Beach, was crossing from east to west when he was struck by the motorcycle.

Kitchens was critically injured. He was flown to the Halifax Trauma Center in Daytona Beach. Freeman was seriously injured. He was wearing his helmet. According to the report, alcohol was ruled out as a cause of the crash.
