The Ormond Beach Fire Department said the home, worth over $1 million, is a total loss.

A home worth over $1 million was destroyed after it caught fire Aug. 15.

The Ormond Beach Fire Department arrived to the home at 67 Ocean Shore Blvd., at 2:40 a.m. to find heavy smoke. Captain Ed Flud said the vacant home is a total loss.

“The roof is collapsed up top,” Flud said. “The house is a big loss. The property itself being on the beach, it has to be at least $1 million. It’s an old house.”

The two story house is currently being investigated by the State Fire Marshall to determine the cause of the fire.
