The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the deceased driver in last week's hit-and-run as 46-year-old Phillip Maurice Stiles, of Port Orange.
Stiles died last week, Jan. 30, following a traffic accident with Ormond Beach's Richard Anderson, 61, on Interstate 95, in which Stiles' Honda struck the back of Anderson's truck for unknown reasons, according to the police report.
Stiles fled the scene of the crash on foot, police say, and, when a state trooper approached him for questioning, he began to run toward the edge of the overpass, from which he eventually fell, or jumped, to his death.
