Ice cream trucks will soon be allowed in Flagler Beach — as long as they don't set up along State Road 100 or Oceanshore Boulevard — but other mobile food vendors will be banned under an ordinance passed Thursday by the Flagler Beach City Commission.

Thursday's 3-2 vote was the final reading of the ordinance, which the commission also passed 3-2 on first reading Jan. 23.

The ordinance includes an exception for farmers' markets and special events.

In other business Thursday, the commission voted unanimously to approve an ordinance that would give the commission leeway to allow alcohol on city property for certain special events.

The ordinance would also cover the Flagler Beach pier, said City Manager Bruce Campbell. "What if we want to have a wedding on that pier, and they want to have a champagne toast?" he said. "This waiver would give the commission the ability to say yes, you can, this one time, on this one occasion."

The commission might also use the new ordinance to allow events like wine tastings at art festivals, he said. Thursday's vote was the first reading for the ordinance.

The commission also unanimously passed a noise ordinance that would set quiet hours between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., with exceptions for New Year's Eve and July Fourth.

The vote was the final reading for the ordinance, which the commission passed unanimously on first reading Jan. 9.
