The domination continues for the Flagler Palm Coast wrestling team.
Over the break, FPC defeated thre-time-defending Class 2A state champion Springstead in the Springstead Invitational. The Bulldogs scored 241 team points. Springstead came in second, with 190 points.
With the win, FPC maintained its undefeated record heading into this weekend’s Rotary Club tournament, which is held every January at FPC. More than 30 teams, many top in the state, are expected to compete, including Matanzas.
At the Springstead Invitational, Jake Kosachiner won in triple overtime in the 113-pound class over the No. 4-ranked wrestler in the state, Jared Lanier, of Wiregrass.
In the 152-pound class, Jackson Trivett went down early in the match, 2-0, but he rallied to control the rest of the way en route to an 8-5 win over Andrew Martin, of Sickles. Martin was 38-0 and ranked ninth.
Also at the tournament, FPC’s Zac Branning was awarded fastest pin, when he secured a takedown and pin in 15 seconds.
