When high school soccer season ends, Flagler Palm Coast defender Ashley Friedman will start to get ready to play overseas.

Friedman, a senior committed to Nova Southeastern University, will head to Austria June 16-25 to compete in the United World Games. She is among 18 players selected through college showcase tournaments. The tournament will feature teams from 30 countries.

The United World Games is an Olympic-style event featuring men and women competing in eight sports. Friedman will be playing for the U19 Elite Soccer team, which includes graduating seniors and current college freshman players who have been recruited from across the country.

Friedman is a captain on the Lady Bulldogs team.
