Flagler Beach residents who will be leaving the area can request a police watch on their home while they’re gone, according to a news release from the city of Flagler Beach.

House watches can be for short trips, like a weekend vacation, or for longer ones up to 90 days. House watches are not permanent surveillance, but officers will check the property when they have the time.

It’s also a good idea to tell a trusted friend that you’ll be gone, and ask them to keep an eye on things and let you know — and call the police department — if anything looks wrong.

To request a police house watch, pick up a request form at the police station, or download it online, at cityofflaglerbeach.com/documentcenter/view/193. Mail it to the Flagler Beach Police Department, at P.O. Box 36, Flagler Beach, FL 32136.

Call the Flagler Beach Police Department, at 517-2023, after you return from your trip, so they know that you are home safely and they can stop the watch.
