The road to states for five local girls weightlifters will continue after placing in the top three at last week’s sub-sectionals meet at Flagler Palm Coast High School.

The Lady Bulldogs will send three lifters to sectionals, which will take place Jan. 23, at Spruce Creek High School.

Savannah Roberts took first place in the 154-pound class, after she hit 120 pounds on the bench press and clean-and-jerked 140 pounds for a 260-pound total.

Kelly Kastner took third in the same weight class. Kastner benched 125 pounds and clean-and-jerked 120 pounds for a 245-pound total.

Brittany Adams will also advance after finishing third in the 169-pound weight class. Adams hit 140 pounds on the bench and 155 pounds on the clean-and-jerk for a total of 295 pounds.

Matanzas will send two lifters to the sectional meet.

Kayla Short took first place in the unlimited class, benching 185 pounds and clean-and-jerking 135 pounds for a 320-pound total.

Kayla Walker finished second in the 154-pound class. Walker benched 125 pounds and clean-and-jerked 130 pounds for a 245-pound total.
