Residents of Palm Coast's R-section are concerned about gun shots in the area. It happened last Sunday night, and now more residents are calling the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, as well.
At about 8 p.m. Jan. 18, Cmdr. Robert Weber, public information officer for the sheriff, told the Palm Coast Observer that there were no active calls in the R-section. Earlier in the evening, however, at 6:35 p.m., a call came in from Rykill Way, with regard to gun shots, Weber said. There were six other calls after that.
He wrote, via text message: "Supposedly anywhere from three to six shots fired in the area. One caller said it was fireworks. Deputies went out and located a home on Riddle where the home owner was setting off fireworks. Deputy gave them a verbal warning."
Last Sunday, shell casings were found on the street after reports of gun shots. Nothing like that has been reported at this time.
However, several residents reported on the Palm Coast Observer Facebook page that they were confident that the sounds were gun shots. Just before 10 p.m., one resident stated: "Husband just said he heard it--near Rolling Sands and Rolling Fern. He said it sounded west of us towards US-1."
