Two free workshops on getting thousands of dollars for your child’s college education will be hosted by Flagler County Schools, at its annual Financial Aid Night 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Government Services Building, Building 2, first floor, 1769 E. Moody Blvd.

The speaker will be Carol Klamo, noted author and college expert. She will be discussing topics including how to send your kids to the school of their dreams without going broke; how to triple your eligibility for aid; and how to find scholarships and grants you’ve never heard of.

Additional topics to be included: How to pay for college with no money out of your pocket; How to send your child to a fancy private school for less than the cost of a local junior college; How to pick the colleges that will give you the most amount of money; The one mistake every parent makes when applying for scholarships;  Seven sure-fire strategies to be able to afford the school of your dreams; and, What to do right now if your child is in high school.

Speaker Cheryl Tanenbaum, senior vice president and chief financial officer at Intracoastal Bank, will also present a session on taking a closer look at costs associated with college and developing a financial plan.

Admission is free but seating is limited, so arrive early. The high school guidance counselors and college financial aid officers will also be on hand to provide resources and assist families in completing the FAFSA. Bring your 2013 IRS Tax Form, if available.
