And then, there were two.
St. Lucie Public Schools Assistant Superintendent Kevin Perry, who was selected to replace Hamilton Township School District Superintendent James Parla for consideration for the job of Flagler County Superintendent, after Parla withdrew his application Friday, has also dropped out of consideration, according to School Board Attorney Kristy Gavin.
"As a result, the board will only be interviewing two candidates for the position on Thursday," Gavin said in an email.
Of 20 total applicants for the position, the Flagler County School Board narrowed its options down to a three-candidate short list. The remaining candidates are Flagler County Schools Assistant Superintendent Jacob Oliva and Osceola County School District Assistant Superintendent Pamela Tapley.
The applicant to be hired will replace Janet Valentine, who is currently out of work following a stroke. Oliva has assumed most of Valentine’s responsibilities in the interim.
The position is set to be filled by Feb. 4.
