Before school got out and before FCAT scores were in, Wadsworth Elementary School Principal John Fanelli began planning a summer party to celebrate and stay motivated.

“We planned it regardless,” Fanelli said. “And it makes it even more fun when you come out on top.”

The Wadsworth Elementary cafeteria was lined with a variety of activities Thursday, July 24 ranging from a snacks to Wii games to a dance floor filled with balloons.

Not only did Wadsworth receive an “A” grade from the state, but it also achieved the highest average FCAT score for all elementary schools in the county.

“The kids work hard all year, and they deserve the rewards too,” Fanelli said. “We just wanted to celebrate them.”

Fanelli said that this achievement is even greater because Wadsworth is a Title One school and has a high transient rate.
