Heide Boyd pinned an Eagle Award on her son, Colton Boyd, at a Court of Honor on Sunday, June 1, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Bunnell. Then, Colton was given a medal to pin onto his mother.

Eyeing the sharp pin, Boy Scout Troop 492 Scoutmaster Elbert Tucker quipped, “I can’t watch.”

Colton, who is a graduate of Flagler Palm Coast High School, was the 25th young man to earn his Eagle Award from the troop. Tucker conducted the first court of honor, as well, in 1983, when Dan Wilcox Jr. earned his award.

Colton was also given a father’s pin, which he will keep for himself. His father, Mike Boyd, died of a heart attack last year, so he was not able to transfer the pin.

Colton thanked everyone for attending the Court of Honor and for supporting him and his family through this tough time. Next up for Colton is missionary service through the church. He will serve in Argentina for the next two years.
