Decked out in the capes and masks, the first VPK graduates at Palm Coast Community Child Center received their diplomas Friday, June 6.

“We have all learned so much this year; as a staff we learned how to operate as a team within our strengths and abilities that God has given us,” director Mary Benvenuto said. “We learned how to celebrate and enjoy victories, we have bonded over some of the victory we have experienced this year and we have even bonded over some of the tragedy as we had.”

The center opened in 2012 and ended its school year with 20 students. This year, VPK was added and enrollment jumped to 50 children. Twenty of those students graduated Friday.

“Developing an amazing VPK program was very expensive,” Benvenuto said. “But training the next generation of super heroes, that’s priceless.”
