Cmdr. Bob Weber said a deputy was at the Cargo home when Alex arrived. Weber said via text message that Alex "told the deputy he was in Flagler beach collecting shells on the beach for his mother."

Residents rejoiced on Facebook at the news Alex Cargo is safe. Here is one post on the Palm Coast Observer page, from Nicole Rio:
"just received the Alert phone call from Sheriff Manfre Impressive. Glad he is home safe. Thanks for the update Mr. Manfree and continuing to make sure our community is Safe. Communication is a PLUS in my book."
Also, Weber stated that Code Red has in fact been used for a missing person alert in the past, so this is not the first time.

Alex Cargo was found at about 10:40 p.m. According to Cmdr. Bob Weber, of the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, he is "home and safe." Weber added, "he returned home on his own."

At about 10:25 p.m., the Sheriff's Office released a statement with a photo of Alex Cargo, but not much new information about him. Alex has brown eyes and wears his hear in a buzz cut style. The search has been ongoing since about 4 p.m., and has involved air, ground and K9 efforts.

An email message was sent from flagleremergency.com on behalf of the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, at 9:18 p.m.:
"We are currently looking for a missing - overdue 14 year old Hispanic male last seen off of Burrell Place in Palm Coast at 4:15 PM. His name is Alex Cargo, last seen wearing a green shirt, bluejeans. He is 5'8" tall dark skinned Hispanic Male weight of 150lbs.
"If you have seen this person please call the Sheriff's Office at 313-4911."
In another phone message, received in the Matanzas Woods area at 9:58 p.m., the following detail was added: "He was also seen wearing black sunglasses."
The Sheriff's Office said Alex Cargo left after having an argument with his mother around noon.
When asked for an update, Cmdr. Bob Weber wrote via text message: "We are sending out code red countywide. They are getting calls of sightings earlier this afternoon in the area of PCP."
Residents noted Facebook that they were notified by phone, as well:
Tilly Patricia wrote on the Palm Coast Observer's page: "This is the first time we have gotten a code red call for a missing person."
Catherine Marotta wrote: "I got a call too I'm in the P section...we will keep our eyes open"
