Some adult education programs now offered at the Flagler School District's A1A Adult Center won't be available in the future.

"We're ending some of the programs at the A1A Center because they're not paying for themselves," School Board Vice Chairwoman Colleen Conklin said.

The district is evaluating its adult education programs and cutting ones that aren't self-sufficient, including some fitness-oriented programs, in order to avoid pulling money from programs for children, she said.

The A1A Center building at 5633 N. Oceanshore Blvd. will remain, Conklin said, although the district is ending its relationship with the postal service there because the location is costing the district money. Conklin said she has heard of rumors in the community that the district is selling the building, but that they are "unfounded."

"There has been no discussion like that at all," she said. "It's purely a programming issue."
