Flagler County Sheriff James L. Manfre administered the oath of office to seven new deputies Wednesday, April 30 in an afternoon ceremony at the Sheriff’s Operations Center.
“We are fortunate to have a group of experienced and skilled individuals who will soon be serving our community,” Manfre said in a Sheriff’s Office news release.\
The new deputies will complete an 18-week in-house training program, then five will be assigned to the Sheriff’s Office’s Neighborhood Services Division, and the other two will be assigned to the Detention Services Division, according to the news release.
The following new deputies were sworn in Wednesday:
• Andrew Pearson of Palm Coast will be assigned to the Neighborhood Services Division.
• Rich Petkovsek of Palm Coast has been a law enforcement officer for five-and-a-half years and comes to the Sheriff’s Office from the Ormond Beach Police Department. He will be assigned to the Neighborhood Services Division.
• Mark Remish of Palm Coast was employed as a Correctional Officer with the Pennsylvania State Corrections for eight years. He will be assigned to the Detention Services Division.
• Chris Taylor of St. Augustine will be assigned to the Neighborhood Services Division.
• Robin Towns of Palm Coast has been a law enforcement officer for five-and-a-half years and comes to the Sheriff’s Office from the Port Orange Police Department. He will be assigned to the Neighborhood Services Division.
• Stephen Usina of Palm Coast was employed with the Florida Department of Corrections in Tomoka for one-and-a-half years. He will be assigned to the Detention Services Division.
• Jacob West of Ormond Beach will be assigned to the Neighborhood Services Division.
