Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies issued 50 citations and made seven DUI arrests and nine other arrests during increased enforcement on local roads and waterways over Memorial Day weekend.
They conducted 295 traffic stops and issued 107 written warnings over the three-day weekend. One arrest was for biking under the influence.
“The goal of the DUI-BUI enforcement was to raise the public’s awareness to the dangers of drinking and driving while operating a motor vehicle or a boat,” Sheriff James L. Manfre said in a Sheriff’s Office news release. “We encourage citizens to report dangerous drivers or boaters to the Sheriff’s Office.”
The Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit completed 19 stops on the Intracoastal Waterway, issued an ordinance violation to kids jumping off the Hammock Dunes Bridge, and retrieved a jet ski found adrift in the water, according to the press release.
