The deer may have been caught the previous day.

Flagler sheriff’s deputies responded to 26 Winchester Road, Ormond Beach, on Nov. 3 in reference to a deer in distress. The address is located in south Flagler County.

Once on scene, Agricultural and Ranch Deputy Steve Williams, along with Sergeant Mike Lutz, located a large doe dangling from a six-foot aluminum fence.

“The doe was literally hanging from the fence by her right rear leg, but it did not appear to be broken,” Williams said.

The deputies secured the deer by tying her legs together and covering her eyes and head to reduce stress.

“After we removed the deer from the fence, she made her way into the woods and we think she will be OK,” Williams said.

The deer may have been hanging there since the previous day.

“The quick response of Deputy Williams and Sergeant Lutz probably saved the life of this deer,” said Flagler County Sheriff James Manfre.
