Just plain rude

4:12 p.m. First block of Prosperity Lane. Attempted burglary.
A 33-year-old man was in the shower when he heard a scratching at his bedroom window. He looked through the blinds and saw his 16-year-old neighbor trying to push up the sliding window.

Caught, the teen yelled “(expletive) you,” flipped him the middle finger, then ran away.

The man called he Sheriff’s Office, and a deputy wrote in an incident report that there were “several indications that the window had been tampered with.”

There was a layer of dust on the window, and the deputy “observed what appeared to be consistent with hand prints on the window near the top of the window frame,” according to the report.

The victim said he didn’t want to pursue charges; he just wanted the boy to stop harassing him.

The deputy didn’t find the teen at his home, and planned to follow up with him later.

Sept. 25

Bad place for a gun

1:30 p.m. First block of Rickenbacker Drive. Car burglary.
A 21-year-old man called the Sheriff’s Office after someone stole a 9 mm Taurus handgun he’d left in his car.

The man told deputies he noticed the theft at about 11 a.m., when he went outside and saw the trunk lid partially open and damage to the driver’s side door near the key slot.

The thief had rummaged through the trunk and the passenger compartment of the car, but not bothered with the radio or two speakers he’d left in the trunk.

The man placed the items back in their usual places before calling the Sheriff’s Office.

The magazine and bullets for the gun were still in the glove compartment.
