The following is an adapted news release from the Flagler County communications office:

The current culvert replacement project on County Road 305 — just north of the intersection of Clove Avenue and CR 305 — is expected to be completed by the end of October, a couple of weeks behind schedule.

But construction on two additional culverts to be replaced further south on CR 305 is temporarily on hold, and will not move forward until the bridge work on Middle Haw Creek Bridge is completed after January 2015.

The bridge is two miles north of the intersection of County Roads 305 and 304. The weather has delayed both the culvert and bridge construction and made local detours around the culvert project in Daytona North muddy and at times impassable.

A paved detour around the culvert construction is a longer route, but follows paved roads around the construction project.

“We were hoping to minimize the impact by doing the culverts while the bridge was out, but the weather has made this difficult,” County Administrator Craig Coffey said. “We have met with the contractor and agreed that future work on the two remaining culverts will be delayed until work on the bridge over Middle Haw Creek (two miles north of the intersection of County Roads 304 and 305) is complete.”

An announcement and information will be published on Flagler County’s Website flaglercounty.org prior to construction of the two remaining culverts.
