Former Flagler County Sheriff's Deputy Joseph Delarosby was identified this afternoon as the man who committed suicide late on Oct. 6 or early on Oct. 7, according to the Sheriff's Office.
He was 50 years old and had been a deputy for 19 years. He retired on Aug. 10 this year. In his service, he was a road deputy, worked in civil process serving injunctions and eviction notices, and he was also a bailiff at the courthouse.
During his career, Delarosby received 27 agency commendations, 12 certificates of appreciation and 13 personal letters of appreciation.
He was married and had one adult child. Photography was one of his hobbies.

The body of a former retired Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputy was found by a water department worker the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Heroes Memorial Park on Palm Coast Parkway.
The apparent suicide is under investigation by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
Just after 7:30 a.m., the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from a passerby who discovered the man in the vicinity of the park. The caller advised that the individual appeared to be deceased of an apparent gunshot wound.
Next of kin has not been notified at this time. More information will be reported as it becomes available.
