Thanks for the charge, and the phone

5:58 a.m. — 1500 Block of North U.S. 1. Theft. The victim said someone took her personal cell phone off her station while she was working. She said a couple walked into the store at 1:20 a.m. after parking their Harley-Davidson motorcycle outside.

The male went straight to the restroom and stayed in there for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, the female walked around the store looking at items.

The females asked if she could plug her phone charger in, and the victim allowed her to plug it in by the computer. Eventually, the female left the store, and the victim noticed her cell phone was missing from under the computer.

She walked outside to the question the female, and the female opened her purse to show she did not have the phone. The female gave her a name and a phone number, but the victim did not check an ID. The officer checked the information and it appeared to be phony.

The video showed the female place the phone in her jacket and then leave the store.

The victim did not have the serial number of the phone.

The suspects must have planned on ‘hand fishing’

1:32 p.m. — 200 Block of Putnam Avenue. Burglary of a Residence. The victim said she left her home about 9:30 a.m. The pool man was due that day so she left the screen door to the pool unlocked.

When she returned, she noticed her bedroom had been ransacked and her rolls of coins stolen. Her dog, which was kept in the house, was out in the pool area.

She told the officer that she may have left the sliding door unlocked and the house alarm was not set.

Cash was taken, but no large items.

A neighbor said she was working outside when she saw two young males seem to “come out of nowhere” about 11 a.m. They were standing by the victim’s property, looking at the canal that runs along beside it. The boys asked her if they could fish in the canal, and she told them it was private property. After they left, she thought it was odd because they didn’t have fishing equipment with them.

About 11 a.m., she noticed the dog in the driveway, so she put it in the pool area because no one was home.

When contacted, the pool man said he finished his work about 10:30 a.m., and the dog was in the house at that time.
