The following is an adapted news release from the Flagler County communications office:
The work on the first of three culverts to be replaced in County Road 305 is complete and the roadway between the intersection of Evergreen and Clove avenues on County Road 305 is open to traffic.
Work on the remaining two culverts on County Road 305 has been put on hold until after the completion of the Middle Haw Creek Bridge. That portion of County Road 305 north of the intersection with County Road 304 remains closed.
The work is part of an overall project to replace the seven aging bridges and widen County Road 305. The final bridge project, replacing the bridge over Middle Haw Creek (south of all three culvert projects) is underway and expected to be complete by the end of the year.
Work on the culverts is being done by AWA Contractors of Jacksonville and construction inspection and engineering review is being done by by England Thims and Miller of Jacksonville. The cost of the project to replace the culverts is $670,083 and is being paid for by a Florida Department of Transportation grant.
