The Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs are two games into their football season, and they have yet to be challenged. After dropping 48 points on their crosstown rivals, the Matanzas Pirates, in the season opener, the Bulldogs ran away from the Seabreeze Sandcrabs this past Friday to remain undefeated.

In just their first two games they have scored 83 points while holding their opponents to 15. In the first two games, FPC has dominated every aspect of the game.

A great deal of credit for the Bulldogs’ early success goes to their running backs. The Bulldogs, as a team, ran for 377 yards and four touchdowns against the Sandcrabs.

“We have greatly skilled running backs, from Que’shaun Byrd, Caleb Tassy, to Ladarius Smith, who was a linebacker last year,” coach Caesar Campana said. Byrd alone ran for 247 yards.

When the Bulldogs meet the University Titans on Friday, Sept. 12, they will face a team with a similar makeup. The Titans are 2-0. Like the Bulldogs, they have a strong running game, led by freshman Lorenzo Lingard, who rushed for 225 yards against New Smyrna Beach in their last contest. The Titans, like the Bulldogs, ran for over 300 yards, and their defense didn’t allow a point. One thing is for sure about their upcoming game: Something has to give.
