Two teams went into the game undefeated. Only one of them came out with a zero in the loss column; it wasn’t Flagler Palm Coast. The University Titans handed the Bulldogs their first loss of the season, and the mercy rule had to be implemented.

“They were a well-coached, physical and talented team,” coach Caesar Campana said. “We blew a lot of big plays. I think we should’ve scored three times.”

University took the lead on a 37-yard interception return by Jeremy Diaz. Diaz would find the end zone on a 55-yard touchdown pass and a 22-yard touchdown run. Qurnell Rutledge scored on a 58-yard score and another 3-yard touchdown.

Jimmie Robinson caught a couple of big pass plays for the Bulldogs, but they were not enough to counter the Titans' running game.

“They mashed us,” Campana added. “You have to score on a team like that.”

The Bulldogs will host the Sandalwood Saints Friday Sept. 19, at FPC High School.
