The Mainland Buccaneers (4-0) have not been challenged this season. They have forced the mercy rule in every game thus far. After their big 63-0 homecoming  win against Pine Ridge, the Buccaneers had one thing in mind: American Heritage. They will host the Stallions (2-1) Friday Sept. 26, in a rematch from last year.

Head coach Scott Wilson spoke about the Stallions after their win, saying, “They’re a state powerhouse. We had a tough game against them last year when they beat us, but they’re coming here this year.”

American Heritage and the Bucs played to a 6-0 final last year, which was Mainland’s only regular season loss and shut out. The only score came from Julian Perez, who scored on a defensive fumble return.

Though there are some similarities from their last outing, such as Mainland’s undefeated record and the Stallions one loss record, there is a big difference this year. Denzel Houston.

Houston is the area’s top-ranked passer this season in almost every statistical category, according to Wilson. The first-year starter has dominated the defensive competition, since his inaugural game against Lake Mary in the preseason, where he threw for over 350 yards and three touchdowns.

“We’re ready for them,” Houston said. “We've been coached up. We've been preparing for them.”
