The Palm Coast Masters Swim Team takes first place in a number of races

The Palm Coast Masters’ Team participates in the annual HammerHead Ocean Marathon last month in Jacksonville Beach. Seven of the 14 members competed, and four of them won first place. Two first places in the 2.5 mile race and two places in the 1.25 mile race. I can provide details and a picture.

Two of their Coaches, Glenn Partelow and Sheryl Watkins swam the grueling 2.5 mile race. Glenn won the 60 and over race in 64 minutes, while Sheryl won the 45-49 category in 65 minutes. Both swimmers have been undefeated in this distance for a number of years and place well ahead of their younger competitors.

Two other swimmers, Petra Hayhurst and Kate Sussman, each won the 1.25 mile race in their age groups. Petra took first in the 50-54 group, and Kate in the 55-59 group. Again, each was well ahead of women in the younger age groups. Two other swimmers, Gerry and Sherrie Keyes each placed fourth and third in their age groups in the 1.25 mile race.
