Weekend storms sent sets of fun waves to Flagler Beach for the sixth Flagler Surf Series event held on the South side if the pier Saturday and Sunday. The contest, which was founded by Dan Worley in 2012, focuses on showcasing the talent of those surfers right here in Flagler, but also celebrates the pros that reside just a couple beaches down.
Arron Cormican won the Men’s Pro division edging out Dustin Richardson, Eros Exahrou and Flagler Beach’s own Brandon Hoffman.
“I can't believe the level of surfing I saw today,” Worley wrote on Facebook after the Sunday pro heats, adding that the final heat was like watching a surf video.
One of the contest judges, Kyle Wilson, wrote, “I got the privilege to watch some of the best surfers on the East (Right) Coast. … It was an honor to judge these dudes. … Our boys could have stood against anyone today with the innovation, precision and full on commitment to putting on a performance for the crowd. It was incredible to watch.”
