Don’t go away mad
2:47 p.m. — 100 Block of South Nova Road. Information. The victim at an auto repair shop said that a male, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and 250 pounds, came into the store and requested him to scan his vehicle in reference to a check-engine light. The victim said the suspect had an “attitude.’
The victim followed him out to his SUV. The victim said the suspect opened the door to the vehicle, got into the driver’s seat, slammed the door shut, put the vehicle in reverse and proceeded to leave quickly.
The suspect did not say anything during the incident.
The victim said he was hit by the vehicle’s side mirror when it backed up and he kicked the vehicle one time in a reflex.
The victim said management required him to report the incident but he did not wish to pursue charges.
Sept. 19
Paying for a discount
9:11 a.m. — First Block of Neptune Avenue. Fraud. The victim said she received a phone call from a person she thought was calling from the local, daily newspaper. The caller said for a $6 fee, she could reduce her monthly bill.
The victim gave the caller her credit card number.
After the transaction, the victim became worried because the caller ID on her phone was “unknown number.” She called the newspaper and they said it was a scam.
She called the credit card company to cancel the card, and they said a transaction had been made at a tire store in another city for $1,868.98. She had not authorized the transaction.
Sept. 21
Steak out
4:41 p.m. — 700 Block of South Atlantic Avenue. Theft. The victim said a rib eye steak that was thawing out in the back, fenced area of the restaurant was stolen and the incident was captured on video.
In the video, a large male is seen entering the back gate, quickly grabbing the steak and running out.
The victim said the steak was valued at $7.99 and he wanted to press charges.
