New Varn Park bathroom under construction

The following is an adapted news release from the Flagler County communications office:

Varn Park will soon have a new dune walkover, more parking and a new sculptural bathroom built in the shape of a stingray.

The dog-friendly, 8-acre park has been closed since mid-December and is scheduled to reopen at the end of May. The parking lot is being expanded from 42 parking spots to 106.

The total cost of the project is $549,420, and 80% of the total will be reimbursed from federal grant dollars issued through the Florida Department of Transportation. Local funds and in-kind services will cover the remaining 20%, or $105,000.

Meeting on Matanas interchange, Old Kings extension planned

The following is an adapted news release from the Flagler County communications office:

The Flagler County Engineering Department will host a public meeting 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at the Palm Coast Community Center at 305 Palm Coast Parkway NE to tell residents of the planned start of construction for the Matanzas Woods Parkway Interchange Project at I-95 and the future Old Kings Road Extension project.

The interchange project will start this summer and require the temporary closure of Matanzas Woods Parkway.

The future Old Kings Road Extension project will provide a direct route for commuters to the Matanzas interchange at I-95 and minimize traffic impacts to Matanzas High School.  That project is slated to begin construction later this year.
