The following is an adapted news release from the city of Palm Coast communications office:

Palm Coast has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation for the 10th year in a row.

The award recognizes Palm Coast’s urban forestry program, the city’s establishment of a Green Team, the city’s annual observance of Arbor Day and the city’s commitment to promoting environmental improvement and higher levels of tree care for citizens through its tree care ordinance.

The city also received the Tree City USA Growth Award for the ninth time, based on its community education program.

The city’s Arbor Day events will be held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Central Park in Town Center.

The Arbor Day 5K Root Run/Walk starts at 8 a.m. and the Free Fun Run/Walk starts at 9 a.m.

Arbor Day festivities will include a tree give-away, butterfly release and tent, food and pet food drive, exhibits and fun activities for all ages.
