The Jacksonville Zoo came to the Flagler County Public Library on Tuesday, Aug. 11. The Jacksonville Zoo has a Zoofari Program that goes to many different counties throughout the year, visiting public libraries and schools to provide education on conservation.
The visit to the Flagler County Public Library was funded by The Friends of the Library. Educator Raven Pazmino introduced three exciting animals to the kids: Army the Armadillo, McDoor the Alligator and Ferrari the Tortious, whom all the kids got a chance pet at the end.
“My love for animals started at a young age, and I want to instill this same love in other children," said educator Raven Pazmino. "This is the perfect age to reach them and show them to love and respect the animals in their natural habitat.”
Pazmino taught the kids about environmental issues that threaten species and how kids can do small things to help, like recycle, not litter and respect an animal’s natural home.
