The Florida Agricultural Museum held its first hayride on Friday, Aug. 14, to help celebrate the return to school for Flagler County students. If you missed out this time, the hayride will take place on the second Friday of every month.
As a nonprofit facility, all proceeds from the event will go back into the organization. Two tractors pulled about 20 people at a time around a small section of the 460-acre property. The guests saw the new male calf with his dad and mother, Rosie. A naming of the calf was held and will be voted upon at the museum's upcoming Night at the Farm event.
The hayride gave the guests a rare opportunity to explore an area that is usually off limits. From the hayride a 19th-century log wagon was viewable as well as a 1890s Commissioner Store. The store, originally built in Gainesville, was reconstructed here in Flagler County.
After the hayride was over, the children met one of the museum's most beloved animals. Buddy, a registered miniature horse, is one of about 25 animals residing on the property.
